Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup everything he could about poker. He would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse feedback from other people kill his dream of being one of the best poker players on the planet.
He started playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an undying passion for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his achievements. He admits to making errors in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Even though Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
