February 18th, 2016 at 9:21

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender on the globe by many of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn everything he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative comments from others kill his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes errors in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Although Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
