Online Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

December 2nd, 2019 at 22:25

Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to achieve last game in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a big pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest gamblers in the world. While competing in internet poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. Gus often participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Gus usually buys in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I believe Hansen is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the table with the min buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes most of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be 1 of the best players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amt.. I think television can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The best players anywhere in the world may be guys you have never heard about. Gus can be found playing net poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in big stakes omaha hi-low and hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in money games?
