Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning one. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover everything he could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the adverse feedback from others kill his dream of being one of the best poker players on the planet.
He started competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a learning period and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. Phil says that he is learning every day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.
Although Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
