Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is often times viewed as one of the most complicated but popular poker variations. It’s a variation that, even more than regular Omaha poker, invites action from every level of players. This is the chief reason why a once invisible variation, has grown in acceptance so amazingly.
Omaha 8 or better begins exactly like a normal game of Omaha. Four cards are given out to every player. A round of wagering follows in which gamblers can wager, check, or drop out. 3 cards are handed out, this is referred to as the flop. One more round of betting ensues. Once all the players have either called or folded, another card is revealed on the turn. an additional round of betting happens at which point the river card is revealed. A low hand is the weakest hand that could be made, with the lowest being made up of A-2-3-4-5. Because straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest value hand possible. The low hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an eight and lower. The lower hand takes half of the pot, as does the higher hand. When there is no lower hand available, the high hand wins the complete pot.
It may seem complex at first, after a few rounds you will be agile enough to get the base subtleties of the game with ease.
