Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup every little thing he could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative feedback from other people destroy his ambition of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is learning every day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes errors in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
