Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the closing table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest players around the world. While gambling on web poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He regularly plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all in. I accept that Gus is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has little or no reason to play at the game with the min buy in.
Buying in for the min takes almost all of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is presumed to be one of the greatest poker players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amt.. I believe tv can alter our perception of the real world at times. The best poker players in the world may be guys you have never heard of before. Gus can be seen playing web poker on Full Tilt. He generally competes in big stakes Omaha and texas hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in cash rounds?
